When it comes to appearance, men always follow women 10 to 20 years later. For example, in the 70s, when women used shampoo and conditioner, men did not. Indeed, surveys at the time show that people thought men who used shampoo or conditioner must be gay! Nowadays, men use more shampoo than women.
And it has been similar with things like health, moisturiser and now cosmetic surgery. Men are taking to cosmetic surgery in ever increasing numbers, and in some sectors of the market, they are almost on par with women.
Hair transplants have been the subject of many debates, with people divided sharply on whether a man should, or should not. People tend to be very critical of men who have obvious hair restoration because an air of artificiality can creep in..... a big no-no for most men.
A bad transplant is obvious, but a good one is not. And because men have traditionally been secretive about even looking for information on the subject, they have often not been advised well when they do finally take the plunge. The fact is that something can be done for hair loss at its different stages although it's best caught as early as possible and if your man pines after a bit more hair, it's worth letting him examine the options.
It won't be long until the number of men having cosmetic surgery is equal to the number of women.
So if Tom Cruise or Tom Jones can have cosmetic surgery, men now increasingly realize that they too can follow suit. There is very little difference with cosmetic surgery for men, but the new range of operations like pectoral implants to give a more manly chest, or penis enlargements – have begun to widen the surgeon's repertoire. Within the next decade, there will be an increasing number of operations designed just for men and their bodies.
